Tips For Therapists started out on Instagram where I hoped to create a safe and enriching learning environment for therapists and other mental health professionals. After working as part of a therapeutic team for five years in a psychiatric hospital, I decided to take the leap into full time private practice and was apprehensive about being isolated and without a team. So, Tips for therapists was born and along with it a community of mental health professionals with which my idea resonated.
The page has brought about exciting developments. There is now an online forum, the first to be held at the end of September where we will think about imposter syndrome. The forum will run every six weeks and will be based around a different topic. Some future ideas will be self-care, private practice, integrating theory and creative interventions, to name but a few.
Instagram has a very limited word count and some of the discussions that were occurring were so enlightening and though provoking, I wanted to create this blog space to be able to delve deeper into topics and ideas, and to share my experiences of being a psychotherapist. I also really enjoy writing and have several books in the pipeline.
I would like other therapists to contribute so we can all share ideas and grow together. This is a space where we can show support for one another, challenge one another, and ultimately flourish as mental health professionals.
This is a relational and interactive space where no one is the expert, but in which we can learn together in the wonderful world of Therapy. So, please comment on posts, share your thoughts and ideas and contact me if you would like to contribute a blog post.
My writings offer readers a glimpse into my thoughts and personal experiences working as an Integrative Psychotherapist in London. They will not resonate with everyone, and that’s okay. There is no one size fits all therapy, or therapist.
I look forward to sharing and growing with you.
